Shell Hill
Shell Hill Reserve lies at the eastern end of the Marne Valley. It was formerly a mine site where a near-surface fossil oyster sediment was mined to produce fertiliser in the post WW2 years. In 2009 EHMPCG, together with the Mid Murray LAP and Mid Murray Council, have accrued funds to assist with an upgrade of the area. The project will have fencing to control traffic, interpretive signs and an information bay, walking trails and a leaflet to guide walkers.

Apamurra Quarry - Fischer Road
Remnant vegetation at the rear of the quarry site contains rare daisy bushes that are listed as Vulnerable under the national EPBC Act. EHMPCG has received funding to fence the area to prevent access by trail bike riders that have been identified as a major threatening process. The Mid Murray Council fenced the entire quarry area in order to reduce the threat.

Jutland Area Boneseed Control
EHMPCG has received a $18,900 grant from the Federal Community Action Grants to address weeds of national significance in this high biodiversity precinct. The informal Jutland Precinct was established by Ann Prescott in 2005-06 upon recognising the high value biodiversity assists in the gorge created by the Saunders Creek at Jutland. Since that time Eastern Hills and Murray Plains Catchment Group has been working with landholders in the area to address threats to the remnant vegetation. The main threat to the area is boneseed (Chrysanthemoides monilfera), but there are other threats posed by a number of other introduced plants including gorse, (Ulex europaeus). This project aims to expand the control of these threats to adjacent properties to create a control area of over 500 hectares which should locate and initiate destruction of the localised boneseed infestation entirely. EHMPCG will be contacting landholders early in 2012 to begin works in the area.
